A giraffe is the world's tallest MAMMAL,
Giraffa camelopardalis, belonging to the
ruminant family Giraffidae. It stands over
5½m (18ft) tall, the neck accounting for
nearly half this amount. The giraffe has
two to four small, skin-covered, hornlike
structures on its head and a long, tufted
tail.
