  1. French revolts 1648-53 against the
  2. administration of the chief minister Mazarin
  3. during Louis XIV's minority. In 1648-49 the
  4. Paris parlement attempted to limit the royal
  5. power, its leaders were arrested, Paris
  6. revolted, and the rising was suppressed by
  7. the royal army under Louis II Conde. In 1650
  8. Conde led a new revolt of the nobility, but
  9. this was suppressed by 1653.
