  5. the 1960s from the activities held on the
  6. `fringe' of the Edinburgh Festival. The US
  7. equivalent is off-off-Broadway (off-Broadway

  10. conventional theatre, fringe events are held
  11. in a variety of venues: university theatres,
  12. arts centres, converted warehouses, or rooms
  13. in pubs. Notable `fringe' writers include
