Electronic mail or E-mail is a
telecommunications system that enables the
users of a computer network to send messages
to other users. Telephone wires are used to
send the signals from terminal to terminal.
Subscribers to an electronic mail system type
messages in ordinary letter form on a word
processor, or microcomputer, and `drop' the
letters into a central computer's memory bank
by means of a modem.
