Avebury is Europe's largest stone circle, it
has a diameter of 412metres (1,352ft). It is
situated in Wiltshire, England. It was
probably constructed in the Neolithic period
3,500 years ago, and is linked with nearby
Silbury Hill. The village of Avebury was
built within the circle, and many of the
stones were used for building material.
