The atmosphere is mixture of gases and other
substances surrounding a celestial body with
sufficient gravity to mantain it.
Although many details are available for other
planets atmospheres, only a complete
description is available on the earth's
atmosphere, the study of which is called
METEOROLOGY.
(See individual planets for more information)
Within the first 40 to 50 miles above the
earth, the mixture is of uniform composition
(except for high consentration of OZONE which
is found at 30 miles above the earth).
This whole region contains almost 99% of the
total mass of the earth's atmosphere, this is
made up of just over 78% nitrogen,
21% ogygen, 1% argon and 0.03% carbon dioxide
and even minute traces of neon, helium,
methane, krypton, hydrogen, xenon, and ozone.
