  1. An aspirin is a popular pain-relieving drug
  2. developed in the late 19th century as a 
  3. household remedy for aches and pains such as
  4. the common headache. It relieves pain and 
  5. reduces inflammation and fever. It is derived
  6. from the white willow tree Salix alba. Regular
  7. use of aspirin is recommended for people at 
  8. increased risk of heart attack, thrombosis 
  9. and some kinds of stroke. However, prolonged 
  10. taking of aspirin may cause stomach bleeding,
  11. kidney damage, and hearing defects. 
  12. It is no longer considered suitable for 
  13. children under the age of 12 because of a 
  14. suspected link with a fatal rare disease.
