  1. An apricot is a FRUIT, from a tree of the 
  2. rose family Rosaceae, and is closely 
  3. related to the ALMOND, PEACH, PLUM, and
  4. CHERRY. Although native to the Far East, it
  5. has long been cultivated in Armenia, from 
  6. where it was introduced into Europe and the
  7. USA.
