  1. The apollo project is a US space project to 
  2. land a person on the Moon, this was achieved
  3. on the  20th July 1969, when Neil Armstrong 
  4. was the first to set foot there. The 
  5. programme was announced in 1961 by President
  6. Kennedy. The world's most powerful rocket, 
  7. Saturn V, was built to launch the Apollo 
  8. spacecraft, which carried three astronauts.
  9. When the spacecraft was in orbit around the 
  10. Moon, two astronauts would descend to the 
  11. surface in a lunar module to take samples of
  12. rock and set up experiments that would send
  13. data back to Earth. The first Apollo mission
  14. carrying a crew, was in Oct 1968. The total
  15. cost of the Apollo programme was over 
  16. $24 billion.
