An amphibian is a cold blooded animal,
the most primitive of terrestrial
VERTEBRATE. Unlike the REPTILE, the
amphibians which include the FROG, the TOAD,
SALAMANDER and newts and the limbless
caecillians have moist skins without scales
or with small, hidden scales.
Most amphibians deposit their eggs in water
or moist, protected places. The young
undergo METOMORPHOSIS from aquatic, water
breathing, limbless TADPOLES to terrestrial
or partly terrestrial, air breathing, four
legged adults.
