The abdomen is found in all vertebrates, In
humans the abdominal cavity is lined with a
thin membrane, the peritoneum, which encloses
the STOMACH, INTESTINE, LIVER, and
GALL_BLADDER. The PANCREAS, KIDNEY, urinary
bladder, and in the female, reproductive
organs are also located in the abdominal
cavity. In insects and some invertebrates the
abdomen refers to the rear portion of the
body.
