  10.           Now this file is for following operating systems:
  11.               Microsoft Windows95 v4.00.950 and OSR 2 (aka 950b)
  12.               Microsoft WindowsNT v4.00.1381 (with Service Pack 3)

  14.           and for the latest betatest technical previews:
  15.               Microsoft Windows98 v4.10.1650.8 (Beta 3)
  16.               Microsoft WindowsNT v5.00.1671   (Beta 1)

  20. note: now there exist several INF files for different ZyXEL ISDN terminal
  21.       adapters (TAs). All these files are available on our FTP server.

  41. 1.) Installation:
  42. -----------------
  43.  +  In the Windows modem wizard (start | settings | control panel | modems)
  44.     you should remove all existing modem entries for the
  45.     "ZyXEL omni.net PLUS".
  46.  
  47.  +  Please check your \WINDOWS\INF\ directory for already existing files
  48.     (older versions) of the MDMZYXLG.INF, MDMZYXEI.INF or MDMZYX28.INF.
  49.     All these existing files should be renamed to *.OLD
  50.  
  51.  +  Check that there don't exist any other "OEMx.INF" ('x' is a digit)
  52.     files for the ZyXEL "omni.net" ISDN TAs in the \WINDOWS\INF\ directory.
  53.     Have also a look into the \WINDOWS\INF\OTHER\ directory, if it
  54.     exists (new in Windows98 and NT 5.0)
  55.     You'll have to look into the "OEMx.INF" by opening it with the
  56.     NOTEPAD.EXE (or any other ASCII editor). If the "OEMx.INF"
  57.     starts with the header which lets you assume it is for ZyXEL modems,
  58.     then please rename (or delete) this file !
  59.  
  60.  +  Then install your ZyXEL "omni.net PLUS" ISDN terminal adapter once again
  61.     by using the "modems" wizard in the control panel. Don't let Windows9x/NT
  62.     search for the new modem but add the new hardware manually !
  63.     You will be prompted to enter the path where Windows9x/NT could find
  64.     the new INF driver file. Select the corresponding modem entry.
  65.

  67. 2.) How to work with this INF ?
  68. -------------------------------
  69. +   This new INF does not support several modem entries anymore - as
  70.     they were in previous versions of the INF file for ZyXEL "omni.net PLUS".
  71.     Now, by default the PPP (on HDLC) B-channel protocol is selected (ATB40).
  72.     It is mostly used to connect to the Internet Service Provider's routers
  73.     or for WindowsNT RAS.
  74.  
  75.     However, if you want to select different B-channel protocols for
  76.     outgoing calls you have two choices to select them:
  77.     a.)  in Windows modem wizard's advanced extra settings
  78.     b.)  or by using the "ZyXEL ISDN Configuration Manager"
  79.  
  80.     ad a.) In the Windows modem wizard's advanced extra settings you can
  81.            enter any other command for B-channel protocols. By default, as
  82.            mentioned above, you will find there the command: "ATB40" (PPP)
  83.            You can use following commands (please look into the ZyXEL user's
  84.            manual for further information)
  85.                         ATB00  -> X.75
  86.                         ATB1x  -> V.110  ('x' is for user rate select)
  87.                         ATB20  -> V.120
  88.                         ATB30      n/a
  89.                      *  ATB40  -> PPP
  90.                         ATB41  -> SLIP
  91.                      * = default
  92.  
  93.     ad b.) "ZyXEL ISDN Configuration Manager" (= ZyICM) which is currently
  94.            available as version v2.4, (January 17, 1998)
  95.            This ZyICM is a Windows-based application which lets select
  96.            some parameters of the ZyXEL ISDN terminal adapters in a more
  97.            user friendly and simple way: just select the outgoing protocol
  98.            and click on the "apply" button. The selected protocol will
  99.            be stored in the TA's user profile #0 in NVRAM (AT&W0).
  100.  
  101.            attention: in this case the default command "ATB40" in
  102.            the modem's wizard advanced extra settings must be cleared,
  103.            otherwise always this command for PPP protocol will overwrite
  104.            the ZyICM's selection.
  105.

  107. 3.) LOGWIN.EXE and LOGGER.VXD (for Windows95 only)
  108. --------------------------------------------------
  109.     This is a utility (copyright by Microsoft) which lets you watch the
  110.     logfile and trace information of the "MODEMLOG.TXT" (for the AT commands
  111.     and modem responses) and the "PPPLOG.TXT" (PPP trace information) in a
  112.     window ONLINE (!), that is WHILE IT HAPPENS !
  113.  
  114.     how to install it ?
  115.     -------------------
  116.     + manually copy the "LOGGER.VXD" into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory
  117.     + manually copy the "LOGWIN.EXE" into the \WINDOWS\ directory
  118.  
  119.     how to start it ?
  120.     -----------------
  121.     a.)  you have to enable the logfile feature in the modem's advanced
  122.         settings. Open the modems wizard applet which you will find under
  123.         "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Modems",
  124.         then select any modem entry and click on the "Properties" button
  125.         and enable the "Record to a logfile" on the "Connection , Advanced"
  126.         dialog box. In this INF file it is already pre-selected, so normally
  127.         you don't need this step. If the "LOGWIN" utility is not used, then
  128.         Windows95 will create a file "MODEMLOG.TXT" in the \WINDOWS\
  129.         directory.
  130.         Note: under Windows98 Beta 3 you will find the modem logfile in the
  131.         \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory with a long filename: "MODEMLOG_ZyXEL..."
  132.

  134.     b.) if you want to enable the "PPPLOG.TXT" logfile feature, you must
  135.         enable it in the advanced network settings for the "dial-up adapter":
  136.         Open the network wizard applet which you will find under
  137.         "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Network". Then select the
  138.         "dial-up adapter", click on the "properties" button and choose the
  139.         "advanced" dialox box. There the value for the "Record a log file"
  140.         property must be set to "yes"
  141.  
  142.     c.) manually start the "LOGWIN.EXE" before dialing whenever you want to
  143.         watch or debug the INF files !
  144.  
  145.   Originally this utility is included in the Modem Development Kit (MDK),
  146.   which is publically available on Microsoft's Internet site.
