FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FARGO Introduces New 24-bit Color Printer Driver for the Amigar
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN (April 27, 1995) FARGO Electronics, Incorporated,
manufacturer of the Primera(r) and PrimeraPro(r) Color Printers, announced
today that they have released a new 24-bit printer driver which will enable
both Primera and PrimeraPro to print full 24-bit, dye-sublimation color
images from an Amiga computer system.
Prior to the release of this new printer driver, Amiga users were not able
to print with the maximum 24-bit color potential of the Primera or
PrimeraPro. In fact, they were only able to print images in up to 12-bit
color due to limitations inherent within the Amiga Operating System. Now,
through a device called FARGO:, the new printer driver allows users to
bypass the color printing limitations of the operating system by sending
all images directly to the FARGO: device and on to the printer.
"We've had great results with the new printer driver," states Fred Mattson
of Acclaim Video Production, Minneapolis, MN. "Printing with the new FARGO:
device has improved print speed, print quality, and even printer
compatibility with my video imaging software. Compared to the alternative
$8,000 dye- sublimation printers, the FARGO printer with its 24-bit driver
is an exceptional value."
FARGO's new printer driver software installs both the standard Amiga
printer driver previously provided by FARGO and the new FARGO: device,
which appears as an icon on the desktop, onto any Amiga with system
software 2.0 or higher. Any of the native Amiga file formats such as IFF,
ILBM, Ham-6, or Ham-8 can be printed through the FARGO: device.
The new Amiga printer driver upgrades for Primera and PrimeraPro
are currently available and can be obtained free of charge from
FARGO's Technical Support Department. For further information or
a free printer driver upgrade, call (612) 941-0050 or FAX (612)
941-1852.
Both the Primera and PrimeraPro Color Printers produce A/A4-size thermal
wax and dye-sublimation color output. The PrimeraPro, however,
incorporates several more advanced features such as higher resolution,
optional Adobe PostScript Level 2, and networking capabilities. The
Primera has an average retail price of $699.00, and the PrimeraPro has an
average retail price of $1499.00.
Headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA, FARGO Electronics is a
leading developer and manufacturer of dye-sublimation and wax thermal color
printers. FARGO does business in more than 80 countries and maintains one
of the largest reseller networks in the color printer business today.
