  5. I.  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
  6.  
  7. If you are installing from FLOPPY DISK:
  8.  
  9.         i)    Start Microsoft Windows
  10.         ii)    Insert DISK # 1 in drive A:  (assuming A: is your floppy drive)
  11.         iii)    From Program Manager, select FILE menu and choose RUN
  12.         iv)    Type A:\SETUP
  13.  
  14. II.   RUNNING THE GAME:
  15.  
  16. The installation has been completed.  Now it is time to play the game.
  17.  
  18.         i)     Go to the "Gazillionaire" program group
  19.         ii)    Double click on the icon labeled "Gazillionaire"
  20.         iii)    The game "Gazillionaire" should run
  21.

  28. addition to this, you can order a GAZILLIONAIRE HINTS AND STRATEGIES GUIDE (on 3.5" HD 
  29. floppy disk) for $9 plus $2 shipping/handling.  NOTE:  California residents please include sales

  33. III.  PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
  34.  
  35. a)  Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later.  3.5" (1.44 MB) disk drive.
  36. b)  A 386, 486 or Pentium-based DOS-compatible computer, VGA graphics, color monitor.
  37. c)  11 Megabytes of hard disk space.
  38. d)  4 Megabytes of RAM.
  39. e)  OPTIONAL:  Sound Blaster compatible sound card for sound and music.

  41. IV.  POSSIBLE ERRORS:
  42.  
  43. If you encounter an error not on this list, please let us know.

  45. 1)  If you have any trouble with the display, text size or colors, try switching Windows to VGA 
  46. graphics.  "Gazillionaire" looks best if you use VGA, 640 by 480 graphics, 256 colors (8 bpp), 
  47. small font size.
  48.  
  49. 2)  All programs running under Microsoft Windows share resources, and this tends to cause 
  50. problems.  If you encounter any problems, try closing down any power hungry applications like 
  51. Photoshop or MS Word.  They may be stealing resources from "Gazillionaire".  If you are still 
  52. having problems, try rebooting your computer and running "Gazillionaire" without any other 
  53. programs active at the same time.

  55. 3)  "Gazillionaire" uses a lot of memory, so if you are having memory problems, you should go to 
  56. the Windows Program Manager, double click on the MAIN program group icon, double click on 
  57. CONTROL PANEL icon, double click on 386 ENHANCED icon, select VIRTUAL MEMORY.  
  58. Check to see that your VIRTUAL MEMORY is set to at least 6 megabytes.

  60. 4) If you try installing "Gazillionaire" on your hard drive and get the message "Error - Could not 
  61. copy file: VER.DL_", then just go to your Windows directory and delete file VER.DL from the 
  62. hard drive.  Try installing "Gazillionaire" again.  It should install without a problem, and don't worry, 
  63. "Gazillionaire" will install a copy of VER.DL and VER.DLL on your hard drive.  This same rule 
  64. applies any time you get the message "Error - Could not copy file: ".  Just make sure not to 
  65. delete a newer version of the .DLL or .VBX files.
  66.  
  67. 5) "Gazillionaire" copies several .VBX files and .DLL files into your Windows system directory.  If 
  68. you already have these files installed, the installation program will NOT overwrite them.  Other 
  69. Windows applications may also be using these same files.  If you have older versions of these 
  70. files already on your hard drive, the older versions may not be compatible with the new versions.  
  71. This is a design problem with Microsoft's component software system.  Microsoft has not yet 
  72. figured out how to solve this problem.  If you encounter this problem, you need to delete the older 
  73. .VBX and .DLL files yourself using the FILE MANAGER.  Be sure to check the version number 
  74. before deleting any of the .VBX and .DLL files in your Windows System directory and Windows 
  75. directory.  NOTE:  We have included WPS.EXE to help you check the version numbers.  Just go 
  76. to FILE MANAGER, select RUN, and type C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WPS.EXE.  WPS allows you 
  77. to load in any file from any directory and check its version number.

  79. Once you have deleted any outdated files, try installing "Gazillionaire" again. The "Gazillionaire" 
  80. setup program will install all the .VBX and .DLL files required to run the game.  Listed below are 
  81. the .VBX and .DLL files we use in connection with "Gazillionaire".   All these files are from either 
  82. Microsoft Visual Basic version 3.0 or VideoSoft VSVBX version 4.0.  If you have any questions 
  83. regarding later versions, please contact either Microsoft or VideoSoft.
