The simplest way to end a page is an instant exit, where the next page follows as soon as the page has finished executing. Alternatively, the author may define one or more hotspots. These may be active during the page or become active at the end of the page (like the 'Continue' icon on this page). When a user clicks on a hotspot, the page attached to that hotspot will execute. A keypress, such as escape, space or return, may be specified in the same way. The last choice is timeout, where the presentation will pause for a specified time before continuing. Any combination of these options may be used.
