This collection of utilities is offered as free-ware with
all rights reserved by Andrew Ellenberger, April 1992
Please put all of these files into a directory such as \UTIL, \TOOLS or one
that is specified in your Dos path statement. All files have primer
screens for new users but please read the doc files included for most of
these utilities.
Please note that the Scan*.* programs are for use with
McAfee's Scan.exe and will not work without it.
Autoscan is for placing in you Autoexec.bat file and will
scan the root directory only of the C:\ drive upon boot up.
AutoScan now invokes the CRC check of the C:\ root directory
and will warn of a potential infection if any executables have
been modified since the last check. The Autoexec.bat file is
exempted from this check because of the frequency with which it
is often changed but the Config.sys file is included in the check
so if you modify the Config.sys you will have to erase the file
Value.Scv and run autoscan again or else Scan will report an infection.
Some may find AutoScan a better alternative than running a memory
resident virous checker that slows performance. Scana.com &
Scanb.com are for scanning the associated floppy drives. The /a
and /many switches are activated for checking all files and multiple
floppies.
Please note that SFX-LZH.COM & SFX-X1 is for use with Yoshi's
LHA213.EXE and will not work without it. Sfx-x1 uses the /x1 switch
when making the sfx file which allows the inclusion of a telop file.
MX uses the m switch when creating the compressed file which deletes
the original files after a successfull compressed file has been created.
MX-X1 is the same as MX but adds the previously mentioned /X1 switch.
See Yoshi's docs for an explanation of the m and /x1 switch.
Please note that the Uzi Utilities (UZI, UZIV, ZMOV & ZMOVE) are for use with
Pkware's PKZIP & PKUNZIP and will not work without them.
