USSC ANNOUNCES 'SHARWARE' DISTRIBUTION
PLAN
(Editor's Note: The following is a
news release provided by the listed
company. This column in NOT a review
or endorsement.)
BOHEMIA, NEW YORK -- User Supported
Software Club's Presiden Tom Vande-
Stouwe announce January 7, 1987 the
availability of disks containing
'Shareware Software' from his
organization. Mr. Vande-Stouwe
described the new concept in solftware
distribution as a 'New and Improved'
version of the popular but
unprofitable and unreliable
'Shareware' concept that has been
around for a few years wherby users
pay a 'Registration by the end user
entitles the users to support,
manuals, updates, etc.
Mr. Vande-Stouwe explained the basis
of the plan whic includes the
verification and approval of all
software disks packages by the
software's author prior to shipment to
customers. Each disk will contain a
single package of software and use a
common starting procedure to make its
use easy for novice as well as
experienced computer users. Disk
packages will be about $7.00 per
package for a single disk package.
The inclusion of the authors in the
process of 'Shareware' distribution is
a radical departure from the current
form of 'Shareware' distribution. "We
have brought the authors to the end
users, and provide a communication
channel as well as a distribution
channel for the excellent software
from these authors. We are in direct
contact with each of the authors, and
users suggestion, complaints, etc. can
be rapidly relayed back to the author.
We don't just throw a bunch of
software on a disk and throw it at the
end user and hope it works", said Mr.
Vande-Stouwe.
US Soft Club is providing a 24 hour
toll free telephone line for ordering
disks or registering software for the
end users and accepts all major credit
cards. Mr. Vande-Stouwe said, "This
is the turning point in the dis-
tribution of software. Users can now
try before they buy software without
violating copyright laws or being
bothered by copy-protection schemes.
The days of overpriced and blind
buying of software is on the way out."
Additonal information is available
from Tom Vande-Stouwe, US Soft Club,
