  5. This CD-ROM contains the etexts (Electronic Texts) of the Gutenberg
  6. Project for 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, and some 1997.

  8. Most of the texts are provided in both ascii and zip archives.

  43. Quick Start Instructions:
  44.  
  45.   Windows 3.1/NT:
  46.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  47.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  48.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  49.  
  50.   MSDOS Quick Start:
  51.     Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".
  52.     Example:
  53.           C:\> D:
  54.           D:\> view
  55.  
  56.   Windows 95:
  57.     Insert the cdrom into the cdrom drive.  This will automatically
  58.     start a CDROM browser program called WinView.
  59.     Alternatively, you can also install the program group and icon
  60.     by selecting the "Start" menu and choosing "Run".  At the Run
  61.     box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.

  63. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM:
  64.  
  65. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  66. to view our disc.
  67.  
  68. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  69. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.

  71. For example, in Netscape:

  73.   1. Click on "File"
  74.   2. Click on "Open File"
  75.   3. Choose your CDROM drive
  76.   4. Select the 00_index.htm file

  78. In Internet Explorer:

  80.   1. Click on "File"
  81.   2. Click on "Open"
  82.   3. Click on "Browse"
  83.   4. Choose your CDROM drive
  84.   5. Select the 00_index.htm file

  86. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 3.0 (Windows,
  87. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), and Internet Explorer 3.0 (Windows).

  91. WinView and View

  93. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the program WinView
  94. for Windows, and the program VIEW for MSDOS on the CDROM.  These programs
  95. allow you to page through index files, browse through directories on the
  96. CD, view documentation and uncompress/install the program(s) you want
  97. onto your hard disk.

  103. This disk contains many shareware programs and images. Shareware can
  104. be considered to be a sort of try before you buy system where you are
  105. expected to pay the program author a registration fee if you find the
