- I have been led to believe that Winsock can be used with a dialup
- account, such as I have with Netcom. For those that don't know what that
- is, but would like to answer, it just means that I dial directly into a
- Cshell.

- Not completely. The same problem has occured on several machines we have tried
- it on, with several different video cards. The only simply way around the
- hanging of the game is to delete it from its window and browse to the same one
- and add it. I am not certain of the origin of the problem, even tho several

- Subject: Win Mosaic alpha 4
-
- Hi all,
-
- I've been trying unsuccessfully to get WinMosaic alpha4 up and
- running with Trumpet Winsock 1.0 under Windows 3.1. My first problem
- is to get win32s successfully installed. I unzip win32s11.zip,
- run the setup program (which reports success) and then proceed
- to install freecell to make sure that win32s was properly installed.
-
- Freecell installation reports success, windows reboots but then
- when I try and use freecell it (freecell) hangs. I get the freecell
- window, but then when I try and use any of the pull downs, I get
- nothing. Sometimes, depending on which pull down's I invoke, the
- entire machine will hang forcing a complete reboot.
-
- Any ideas??
-
- Many thanks in advance,
-
- Greg King, king@reston.ans.net

-
- This may not be relevant, but I just discovered a third type of access that
- does not require/allow use of a Winsock. The so-called "Texas Information
- Highway" implements a non-SLIP-based dialup server, similar to a bulletin
- board, to provide Internet access. Menus, including gophers, are used to
- navigate and find information at any accessible Internet site. Text-based
- data is viewable on screen, but both binary and text files can be downloaded
- in one step to the hard drive by simply pressing "d" once a selection is made.
- The end result: FTP via X/Y/Zmodem!
-
- Best of all, it's free (though long-distance charges apply outside Austin)!
- The number is 512-475-4765 (VT100 emulation) if you want to try it. I hope
- Mr. McDilda isn't going to come after me now . . . ;)

- I must agree, even tho I use OS2, there are many times I must exit, to get it
