- Keep It Alive - Keeps your diap-up Internet connection alive
- Version 1.2 FREEWARE
- Copyright 1998 Peili Chen
-
- Do you have a home computer connected to the Internet via dial-up
- networking?
- Have you ever been disconnected by your ISP while you were online but not
- active for 10 or 15 minutes?
-
- If your answer is yes, you might find this program useful.
-
- It is a fact that many ISPs disconnect their clients dial-up connections if
- they are not active for a certain period of time. Keep It Alive keeps your
- dial-up connection alive by trying to get a web page from a web site in a
- time interval you can specify.
-
- Features
-
- * It will detect whether you are online or not if you use Windows
- Dial-up Networking. Once you are online it will automatically start
- taking its "keeping alive" actions - connecting to a web site every
- several minutes, and stop actions when you disconnect.
- * When you start the program it will hide into a small icon in the
- Windows system tray and does its keeping alive job in the
- background or waiting there for your dial-up connection.
- * Point your mouse to the tray icon, you will see your connection
- status.
- * Left click your mouse on the icon, a main windows will show, allows
- you to reset the web site address, time interval, etc. and see the
- connection status.
- * Right click your mouse on the icon, a popup menu will show which gives
- you the choices to show the main windows, read information about this
- program, or exit the program.
- * If you prefer, it can have a sound notification when taking actions.
- * You can launch the program before or after you have started your
- dial-up connection. It uses very little of your computer CPU time.
-
- Installation
-
- * The program is a Win32 application and will only work under Windows
- 95/98 or NT but not in Windows 3.1.
- * Unzip and run K12setup.exe to install.
- * You should choose a popular web site which is usually quick and never
- offline (such as an Internet search engine or your ISP home site), you
- may just use the default setting.
- * For people who use a third-party dial-up program (AOL), you can choose
- to start and stop keeping alive actions manually.
- * To uninstall, use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
