  1. Keep It Alive - Keeps your diap-up Internet connection alive

  5. Do you have a home computer connected to the Internet via dial-up
  6. networking?
  7. Have you ever been disconnected by your ISP while you were online but not
  8. active for 10 or 15 minutes?
  9.  
  10. If your answer is yes, you might find this program useful.
  11.  
  12. It is a fact that many ISPs disconnect their clients dial-up connections if
  13. they are not active for a certain period of time. Keep It Alive keeps your
  14. dial-up connection alive by trying to get a web page from a web site in a
  15. time interval you can specify.

  17. Features
  18.  
  19.    * It will detect whether you are online or not if you use Windows
  20.      Dial-up Networking. Once you are online it will automatically start
  21.      taking its "keeping alive" actions - connecting to a web site every
  22.      several minutes, and stop actions when you disconnect.
  23.    * When you start the program it will hide into a small icon in the
  24.      Windows system tray and does its keeping alive job in the
  25.      background or waiting there for your dial-up connection.
  26.    * Point your mouse to the tray icon, you will see your connection
  27.      status.
  28.    * Left click your mouse on the icon, a main windows will show, allows
  29.      you to reset the web site address, time interval, etc. and see the
  30.      connection status.
  31.    * Right click your mouse on the icon, a popup menu will show which gives
  32.      you the choices to show the main windows, read information about this
  33.      program, or exit the program.
  34.    * If you prefer, it can have a sound notification when taking actions.
  35.    * You can launch the program before or after you have started your
  36.      dial-up connection. It uses very little of your computer CPU time.

  38. Installation

  40.    * The program is a Win32 application and will only work under Windows
  41.      95/98 or NT but not in Windows 3.1.
  42.    * Unzip and run K12setup.exe to install. 
  43.    * You should choose a popular web site which is usually quick and never
  44.      offline (such as an Internet search engine or your ISP home site), you
  45.      may just use the default setting.
  46.    * For people who use a third-party dial-up program (AOL), you can choose
  47.      to start and stop keeping alive actions manually.
  48.    * To uninstall, use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
