- the packed file contains following files:

- 2. What the program does...
- This chatprogram is a program, where many users can meet and talk to
- each other. You can send private messages, you can page other users or
- you can talk to all other users. This program is mainly designed to be
- used in LAN-NETWORKS, but it can also be used worldwide (internet).

- 3. Installing notes
- To get this proggy working you must have TCP/IP protocoll installed.
- Simply unzip the files into a directory. (if you can read this, i think
- you have already done this). There are now 2 files. one is the server
- (chatserver.exe). The server must be startet only by one Person in the
- chatgroup. The other Users can connet now with the client
- (chatclient.exe) to the server. The server is listening for connections
- on Port 1007, which can be changed anything you want. The Users must
- setup their cients to the port and the raddress where the server is
- located and listening.

- 4. Misc
- You are using the program at your own risk! I'm not responsible for any
- damages or loss of data while using this program! But funchat was
- carefully tested and should work without problems.

- 5. Setting up the Server/Client
- With a conversation round, "Funchat server" must run on one machine. He
- is responsible for it that the news achieves all other users. That
- "Clients", i.e. the persons who want to chat with each other have to
- start "Funchat client". The client connects itself with the machine on
- which "Funchat server" runs.

- 5.1 Setting up the Server
- If you for the first time start the server, a "About screen" appears.
- Clicke with the mouse in a free field in this window. The window should
- then disappear and the icon of the server should appear in its task
- strip. Click with the right mouse button onto this icon and select
- "SETUP". You can only change the port here, which the server should
- provide. The default value should be port 1007. If You change this value
- it gets active if you restart the server. Clicken with the left mouse
- button onto the icon, a server information appears. here you can see on
- which IP-number and on which port your server runs. (These Informations
- are important for

- 5.2 Setting up the Client
- If you start the client for the first time, a "About-screen" appears.
- Click with the mouse in a free field in this Window. The window should
- then close and the icon of the Client should appear in your task tray.
- Click with the right mouse button onto this icon and select "SETUP". You
- can input your name here, select colours for text and background and
- make some other regulations. The inputs server port and server address
- are most important. You receive them from the person, which runs hte
- server. (If you run the server by yourself, you can input "localhost" as
- a server address.)
- Now click with the left mouse button to "OK" and after this onto the
- client icon. a so-called "Chatscreen" appears. If You now click with the
- right mouse button in the large empty field, a Popup-Menue appears.
- Select "Connect" and you are connected with the "Funchat server".

- 6. Using more than one Configuration
- When you want to use more than one configuration, you have to start the
- server or client with a parameter between 0 and 9, where 0 stands for
- configuration 0 and so on...
- The default configuration is 0.
