- This version is a major upgrade. I strongly recommend you delete the old
- Sickchat directory before installing this version, rather than attempting
- to upgrade, since there are so many changes.
-
-
- -- Additions (+), Changes/Fixes (*), and Removals (-) --
-
-
- * Sickchat now uses less than half the memory and loads twice as fast as
- previous versions. (About 39k less memory is used).
-
- + Sickchat now loads INSTANTLY, due to a file accessing technique devised
- by The Black Assassin [tK]. SICKCHAT.CFG and SCREENS.DAT are no longer
- text files, but you can still edit MACRO.LST with a text editor to create
- and edit long macro's.
-
- - Sickchat does not page the sysop anymore. If you still wish to use the
- Sick Paging function, wait for Sickpage 0.1, which is coming out soon.
- From now on, CHAT.PPE simply goes straight into chat.
-
- * Installation has changed. When running CHAT.PPE from PCBTEXT entry #333,
- you must pass the parameter "/333" so that Sickchat can exit properly.
-
- Eg. "!D:\PCB\PPE\CHAT\CHAT.PPE /333"
-
- + You can now switch windows with the user during chat! This is done by
- pressing (CTRL-B). Hit it again to switch back to your own window.
- Only the Sysop can use this function.
-
- + Hit (DEL) inside PlateMgr to delete a chat screen. This is preferable to
- deleting the SCHAT-xx.PCB file outside Platemgr, because it renames and
- updates the configuration of all the screens after the one you deleted;
-
- ie. If you deleted SCHAT-02.PCB, then SCHAT-03.PCB would take it's place,
- SCHAT-04.PCB would move to 03, and so on.
-
- * Your screen should now redraw properly when Sickchat ends!!
-
- + The user's time is now truely suspended during chat, rather than being
- just refunded when chat ends.
-
- + New toggle: "Disable Local Beep", can stop the (CTRL-G) Beep option from
- making a noise on the local end.
-
- * The default chat screens now look neater and display faster.
-
- * Sometimes the screen didnt scroll properly (fixed).
-
- * When listing macros, the "More (y/n)" lightbar didn't work properly on
- the remote end. (fixed)
-
- * Configuration is much smoother. Chatcfg is more stable. Platemgr has
- internal error correcting techniques so it shouldn't exit with a runtime
- error anymore, no matter how screwed the SCREENS.DAT file gets.
-
- * The cursor doesnt move on the remote end when you hit (CTRL-D) to Display
- a Textfile, so now the user is completely blind to the fact that you are
- entering the path and filename of a text file while they are typing.
-
- The cursor also doesn't move on the remote end while you are in the User
- Editor, (previously the user's cursor would jump around the screen as you
- moved the lightbar).
-
- - The /NOPAGE parameter is no longer necessary.
- The /LOGFILE parameter has been removed and is now a Chatcfg Toggle.
-
- - The "Force Greeting" toggle has been removed. If you dont want Sickchat
- to automatically say something when you enter chat, simply set
- "Chatcfg > Strings > Greeting String" to nothing, ie. leave it blank.
-
- * Many many other little bug fixes - huge thanks go out to the following
- excellent beta testers: The Black Assassin, Wizard, Wolverine, Jaguar,
- Slash and Sandman.
