  1. This is the Beta version  (Vers. 0.6, 17.6.1993) of TRANSFIL.EXE:
  2. A few bugs have been ironed out, and hopefully this now works
  3. without major hitches.
  4. The translation of Cardfiles into Textfiles and vice versa
  5. has been cleaned up and is now more exact.
  6.  
  7. A link to Notepad and Cardfile programs has been included for easy
  8. viewing of results.
  9. Of course Notepad cannot view large textfiles
  10.

  20. Cardxlat.zip contains the files:
  21. transfil.exe
  22. transfil.hlp
  23. readme.txt
  24. Copy them into any directory and start transfil.exe from either
  25. the filemanager or the program manager.
  26. The program translates Windows cardfiles to tab-delimited textfiles
  27. and tab-delimited textfiles to Windows Cardfiles.

  30. There is currently a limit on the number of records (cards) which is 700:. 
  31. And each card may not contain more than 350 letters (including tabs). 
  32. A line of text which is longer than this will be truncated.
  33. (This is a limit imposed by WINCARD!)

  35. Each tab in the textfile is translated into a Return (#13#10)
  36. and uses up space, so a lot of tabs in your textfile 
  37. will fill the card more quickly, and can make it "inaccessible" 
  38. to cardfile although the number of letters in that card are less than 350
  39.
