- Problem Running DOS/Windows Applications on Systems with Cirrus based
- Video Adapters
-
- The Microsoft Windows NT product group has recently identified an
- application interoperability problem with the October Beta release
- of Windows NT. On systems where a Cirrus based video adapter is
- installed, an NTVDM error may occur preventing execution of MS-DOS
- and Windows applications. NTVDM errors can occur due to other
- factors as well, however this fix is intended for those experiencing
- this problem with Cirrus chip sets. We have verified a fix to
- NTDETECT.COM and are making this available to our customers
- experiencing the problem today.
-
- Please follow the below instructions carefully to remedy this problem.
- If you continue to encounter similar problems, please let us know.
- Thank you for your continued beta testing efforts.

- 1. Connect to the WINNT CompuServe forum, Library 2 where you will find
- WNT005.ZIP. This file was created using the PKZIP file compression
- utility. You will need the PKUNZIP utility to extract the files to
- a directory on your hard drive. PKUNZIP can be found as PKZ110.EXE
- in Library 2 of the IBMCOM forum. Download PKZ110.EXE and execute
- the file to extract the PKUNZIP.EXE utility. To extract the WNT005.ZIP
- file, type: PKUNZIP WNT005.ZIP C:\WNT005 for example. The following
- file can now be seen:
