- How to Upgrade Your MouseWare Files -- Part 1
- -----------------------------------
- If you are upgrading from a previous version of MouseWare, we recommend
- that you install your MouseWare in the same directory as your previous
- version. The INSTALL program replaces the old software in the MOUSE
- directory with the new versions, and then asks for your permission before
- it replaces any menu definition files already in your MOUSE directory.
-
- Before you install MouseWare Utilities version 5.0, be sure to "unload"
- your current MouseWare files. If you're not sure of the load sequence
- or have problems using the "OUT" parameter, edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
- and place a "REM" statement before any MouseWare program names.
- Then re-start your computer. For example:
- CHANGE THIS: | TO THIS:
- |
- date | date
- time | time
- c:\mouse\mouse | REM c:\mouse\mouse
-
- If you use MOUSE.SYS, edit your CONFIG.SYS file to remove the statement
- DEVICE=[DRIVE]\[PATH]\MOUSE.SYS. Then restart your computer.

-
- How to Upgrade Your MouseWare Files -- Part 2
- -----------------------------------
- If "C:\MOUSE" is in your PATH statement when you install MouseWare 5.0,
- INSTALL won't modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, even if you select
- "Automatic Mouse Support". In such case, re-edit AUTOEXEC.BAT to remove
- the "REM" statement.
-
- If you have previously customized CLICK (by editing CLICK.SRC or running
- ClickAdd), use the NEWCLICK command to add your current customized
- settings to the new released version of CLICK.
-
- If you are upgrading MouseWare 3.x to 5.0, the "MENU" command has been
- replaced with the "LOGIMENU" command. If your AUTOEXEC.BAT file contains
- the "MENU" command, replace it with the "LOGIMENU" command.

- How to Install your Mouse for Microsoft Windows 3
- -------------------------------------------------
- The MouseWare disk has an enhanced Windows mouse driver, which you must
- use instead of the Logitech mouse driver provided on the Windows disks.
-
- Select "Install Windows 3 Mouse Driver" from the MouseWare Main
- Installation Menu. This copies a program called "WIN3INST" and the
- enhanced driver to the mouse directory. It then runs "WIN3INST" so that
- you can install the Windows driver to the Windows directory. After
- installation, you can run "WIN3INST" when you need to change driver
- parameters.
-
- If you have purchased a Logitech mouse/Microsoft Windows bundle, the
- Logitech enhanced Windows driver is already on that Windows disk;
- therefore "WIN3INST" is useful only for changing the driver parameters.
-
- If you are using the "MOUSE.SYS" driver on a 386 machine, you MUST add the
- following statement in the file "SYSTEM.INI" under the [386Enh] section
-
- LOCAL=PC$MOUSE
- (Be sure that "PC$MOUSE" is written in UPPER CASE)

-
- How to Install for Earlier versions of Windows
- ----------------------------------------------
- Please follow the Windows documentation or your "Getting Started" manual
- for your mouse for proper configuration of the Logitech Mouse under
- Windows 2.x
-
-
- How to Install your Mouse for the GEM Environment
- -------------------------------------------------
- When installing GEM, if there is no selection for the Logitech Mouse,
- choose the selection for "MOUSE.COM".

- How to Install for the DOS 4.0 Shell Program
- --------------------------------------------
- IBM DOS 4.0x installation places a new AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the root
- directory and a DOSSHELL.BAT file in the \DOS directory. In order to
- use a Logitech Mouse (any type) with the mouse driver in memory,
- you must modify both the AUTOEXEC.BAT and DOSSHELL.BAT files.
-
- 1) With a text editor, open the DOSSHELL.BAT file and find this statement:
-
- @SHELLC /MOS:[driver].MOS/TRAN/COLOR/ etc.......
- (where [driver] can be PCIBMDRV, PCMSDRV, or PCMSPDRV)
-
- 2) Delete "/MOS:[driver].MOS" from the @SHELLC statement. Leave the rest
- of the statement. The modified statement will now look like this:
-
- @SHELLC /TRAN/COLOR/ etc.......
-
- 3) Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to include the C:\MOUSE sub-directory
- in the PATH statement. Load MOUSE, LOGIMENU, and CLICK before DOSSHELL.
-
- Now you can use your Logitech Mouse both inside and outside the DOS Shell.
