  33.      Cromolyn sodium should be stored at room temperature in its original
  34. container.

  38.      Cromolyn sodium nasal solution is used to prevent and treat allergic
  39. rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal passages resulting from allergies).
  40. Cromolyn sodium works by preventing the release of the body chemicals
  41. responsible for inflammation and swelling.

  43. TREATMENT
  44.  
  45.      This medication is for use within the nose only.  The nasal passages
  46. should be cleared before administering the spray.  You should inhale through
  47. the nose as you spray the solution.  The container provides about 100 measured
  48. sprays.
  49.      This medication is most effective when therapy is started before contact
  50. with allergens (the suspected offending agents causing your allergy), so if
  51. you expect to be exposed to something to which you know you are allergic, it
  52. is a good idea to start taking your medication first.
  53.      This medication works best when the level of medicine in your bloodstream
  54. is kept constant.  It is best, therefore, to take the doses at evenly spaced
  55. intervals day and night.  For example, if you are to take four doses a day,
  56. the doses should be spaced six hours apart.
  57.      The maximum benefits of this medication may not become fully apparent for
  58. up to four weeks after you have started therapy.
  59.      If you miss a dose of this drug, take the missed dose as soon as
  60. possible, unless it is almost time for the next dose.  In that case, do not
  61. take the missed dose at all; just return to your regular dosing schedule.  Do
  62. not double the next dose.

  64. SIDE EFFECTS
  65.  
  66.      Minor.
  67.  
  68.      Bad taste in the mouth, headaches, irritation or stinging, nasal burning,
  69. postnasal drip, or sneezing.  These side effects should stop as your body
  70. adjusts to the drug.

  72.      Major.
  73.  
  74.      Tell your doctor about any side effects that are persistent or
  75. particularly bothersome.  IT IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO TELL YOUR DOCTOR about
  76. nosebleeds or skin rash.

  78. INTERACTIONS
  79.  
  80.      Cromolyn sodium should not interact with other medications if it is used
  81. according to directions.

  83. WARNINGS
  84.  
  85.      * Tell your doctor about unusual or allergic reactions you have had to
  86. any medication, especially to cromolyn sodium.
  87.      * Be sure to tell your doctor if you now have or if you have ever had
  88. kidney or liver disease.
  89.      * Do not stop taking this medication unless you first check with your
  90. doctor, even if the symptoms of your disorder disappear.  Stopping the drug
  91. abruptly can lead to a worsening of your condition.  Cromolyn sodium should be
  92. continued as long as you have contact with the substance causing your allergic
  93. symptoms.
  94.      * Be sure to tell your doctor if you are pregnant.  Extensive safety
  95. studies in humans have not been conducted.  Also, tell your doctor if you are
  96. breast-feeding an infant.  It is not known whether cromolyn sodium passes into
  97. breast milk.
