- A Resource About Inherited Allergies

-
- With hay fever season in full swing, sufferers everywhere are trying
- everything in the book to stop their runny noses and calm their red and tear
- filled eyes. And they are wondering why they are "blessed" with this irking
- and bothersome malady. Well, in some cases, you may have to look no further
- than your own mothers and fathers. Hay fever is the most commonly inherited
- allergy, and your genes may be the guilty parties. The same is true for
- hives, eczema and some food allergies. And if you have the problem there is a
- 70 percent chance your child will also be allergic. If you wish to learn more
- about your allergies and your genes, you can obtain this information in a
- brochure called "Are Allergies in Your Family Tree?" It is easy enough to
- get. Just call the Asthma and Allergy Information Center and Hot Line
- 1-800-727-5400. You may also obtain other pamphlets, lists of self help
- groups, and physician's associations across the country by responding to the
- recorded messages you will hear.
