  30. we all need to smile a bit more often, and that's good for our health.  Yes,
  31. there is a condition known as "Hand, Foot and Mouth" disease.  Its scientific
  32. name is "exanthem-vesicularstomatitis" and is also known as summer-term
  33. blains.  It consists of a rash that is restricted to the hands and feet.  A
  34. red eruption is also seen on the tissue lining the mouth.  The disease often
  35. affects farmers and others in contact with livestock, and is more frequent in
  36. younger children.  It is caused by a virus (Coxsackie Group A type 16), is
  37. relatively benign with few symptoms, complete recovery occurring
  38. spontaneously.  The only treatment required is to relieve any annoying
  39. symptoms that might occur.  Don't confuse this with "Foot (Hoof) and Mouth"
  40. disease, a serious viral disease that only affects cloven hoofed animals.
