A Resource About Growing Up: Puberty Information for Young Women
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parents often have difficulty in providing information that their
youngsters require as they enter puberty. It is hard to believe that a young
daughter is growing before your eyes, and that changes are beginning to occur,
long before you feel ready to accept or deal with them. At times like this,
it is nice to have a little help and that is what I am providing for you
today. The booklet is called "Growing Up" and contains just the right amount
of information for your young lady as she passes through this most important
stage of her life. The booklet is well illustrated and easy to understand,
and contains concise but necessary information about the anatomy of the female
reproductive system, menstrual periods, as well as a brief listing of
definitions that deal with the important words needed to understand some of
the concepts of maturing sexuality. You may obtain your copy without charge
by sending a stamped self addressed business sized envelope, along with the
name of the pamphlet DIRECTLY to: The American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists, Resource Center, Department FD, 409 12th Street, Washington, DC
20024. The pamphlet was developed by the Committee on Patient Education of
ACOG, and is one which you can place in the hands of your daughter with
confidence that it is both scientifically correct as well as sensitively
written just for girls her age.
