- FLYING WITH AMIGA
- As nearly every body knows, when Jay
- Minner and co. decided to build a
- computer they thought in designing a
- machine that coud manage complex flight
- simulators routines. They had several
- problems. The first one was however the
- money. It had to be a cheap enough
- machine, so that every body coud buy it
- (no commment), but 4 or 5 years ago the
- ultra high speed 16bit chips running at
- 12 or 14 Mhz where very high priced so
- they decided to develop the Blitter and
- all this stories. And they let his
- wonderfull machine in the hand of
- software developers. So, lets analyze if
- these guys have made a good job or..The
- following lines are a little test done
- by a flying maniac.
- The first amiga flight simulator was
- Flight Simulator 2 from SubLOGIC.As all
- the first things has many faults and,
- also, many real cool things. This
- program begins sitting you in a replica
- of a little prop plane. All the
- instruments work 100%,and you will have
- real life problems in the plane. In ex.
- carburator icing, bulbs burn out, fuel
- in high-g manouvers will not arrive to
- the carburator. Those are the fun things
- but the real problem with the game is

- that is very complicated to fly with it
- I mean doing turns and constant climb
- and descente rate are nearly impossible
- to reach. I have tried with the special
- joystick only for FSII, but it does not
- work right. But, in any way,I LOVE this
- program. Its superb to fly from New York
- to the Niagara Falls using the add on
- scenery disk. There are now in Amiga
- format six scenery disks, including
- America, Japan, Europe and Hawaii.
- After FSII SubLOGIC released JET. In
- this case you fly a F16 or a F18. The
- Amiga version is 10 times better than
- the PC version, but it has no remarkable
