  2. The "Relief Pak" contained herein consists of three fonts drawn in
  3. relief: WhatARelief, ReliefInReverse, and RoundedRelief. They were
  4. drawn in response to a user's request for a "sans serif relief font."
  5. WhatARelief and ReliefInReverse use the same lettershapes -- a squarish
  6. sans serif relief alphabet. ReliefInReverse prints a black strip
  7. with white shadows, or the "negative" of WhatARelief. RoundedRelief
  8. is a rounder, more condensed relief font.

  10. By the way, "Relief" in this case means rather bold letterforms whose
  11. outlines have been taken away to reveal only the shadow, or 3-D portion
  12. that was "behind." In both of these fonts, the shadow is drawn below
  13. and to the left of the now omitted original letters. Obviously, such
  14. a font is for special display purposes only.

  16. All three of the fonts in the ReliefPak are fairly complete, although
  17. there are no diacritics. RoundedRelief lacks the parentheses that
  18. can be found in the other two fonts.

  20. The three fonts in the ReliefPak are copyright (c) 1992 by David
  21. Rakowski. All Rights Reserved. They were uploaded to Compuserve,
  22. GEnie and America Online originally by the font author and Eileen
  23. Wharmby. The purpose of making the fonts available was to help the
  24. funding of Columbia Composers, which presents public performances
  25. of music written by Columbia University students. Their expenses
  26. include hall rental, payments to performers and recording costs.
  27. If you like, keep or use any of the fonts in the ReliefPak, please
  28. consider making a shareware payment in the form of a donation to
  29. Columbia Composers in the amount of $4.99 or greater. Make your check
  30. out to Columbia University and mail it to Cynthia Lemiesz, Music
  31. Department, 703 Dodge, Columbia University, New York, NY 10027. With
  32. your check you might want to enclose a note reading "How do YOU spell
  33. relief? I forgot. The pickles forgot their raincoats, so we had to
  34. substitute snow where we had wanted bathroom tile. Thank you."

  36. You may keep copies of the ReliefPak indefinitely and you may give
  37. copies to your friends, providing you give them ALL the files originally
  38. included in this archive, including the ReadMe that you are reading.
  39. User groups and nonprofit organizations may include the ReliefPak
  40. on their nominal charge disks with the same provisos. For-profit
  41. organizations such as public domain/shareware outlets are specifically
  42. prohibited from including any of the ReliefPak fonts on their disks,
  43. whether or not they charge money.
