  2. The Diner family of fonts comes in four weights: Skinny, Regular,
  3. Fatt and Obese. The fonts have an all-caps set of characters, numbers
  4. and punctuation, and extra alternate shapes in the lower-case a,
  5. k, m, w and y slots. The Diner-Regular font is based on a tall, thin,
  6. rounded Art Deco font called Huxley Vertical. The other fonts were
  7. algorithmically generated from the Regular font and painstakingly
  8. adjusted for consistent proportions across all four fonts.

  10. The Diner fonts have been generously uploaded in Macintosh and PC
  11. formats, both in PostScript Type 1 and TrueType versions. Your advocate
  12. Eileen Wharmby tested and tweaked the PC versions before they were
  13. made public. No other platforms, including Amiga, Apple II and NeXT,
  14. are supported or condoned for these fonts.

  17. All Rights Reserved. It is distributed as shareware. If you like,
  18. use, or keep any of the Diner fonts for more than thirty days, please
  19. make a donation in the amount of $9.50 to the Columbia University
  20. Music Department (make your check payable to Columbia University
  21. and mail it to Cynthia Lemiesz, Music Department, 703 Dodge, Columbia
  22. University, New York, NY 10027; your money helps pay for performances
  23. of music composed by Columbia University students). You may give
  24. out copies to your friends, providing you include all the files you
  25. got in this package, including all four fonts, and including this
  26. Read me. User groups and nonprofit organizations have the author's
  27. permission to distribute these fonts on their nominal charge disks,
  28. with the aforementioned restrictions. Commercial distribution or
  29. distribution by for-profit companies is strictly prohibited, no matter
  30. how noble the cause. Distribution of any kind outside of the United
  31. States and Canada is absolutely forbidden, without exception.

  33. The Diner fonts come to you from the fictional entity Insect Bytes,
  34. whose nearby diner uses a variant of this font on the cover of their
  35. menus (hence the font name). Over ninety fonts released and still
  36. no awards!
