ESP Print is a collection of printer and scanner drivers for Silicon Graphics workstations supporting over 500 printers. ESP Print is seamlessly integrated with the Indigo Magic environment, providing drag and drop printing from the desktop. ESP Print uses the standard printing interface providing compatibility with applications such as Showcase and FrameMaker® 4. ESP Print also provides a screen hardcopy program to print windows or screens with a keypress or under program control.
Every printer driver included with ESP Print has a standard printer options panel with controls for media size, media type, print quality, and so forth. Controls are also provided to facilitate color and brightness matching to the screen. Color printers have separate controls for gamma and brightness correction of each color plane as well as overall color saturation and hue.
Three levels of print quality are supported: draft, proof, and final. Draft quality utilizes the standard Adobe PostScript® "screen" dithering and provides the fastest output possible for a printer. Proof and final qualities use a selectable error-diffusion dithering for better color and gray shades.
ESP Print supports printing of ASCII text, HPGL/2, Adobe PostScript to all supported printers, IRIS RGB, Compuserve GIF, TIFF, Kodak PhotoCD, JFIF/JPEG, and FITS files.
ESP Print requires IRIX 5.2 or higher and at least 32 megabytes of RAM. The CJ-10 scanner driver requires IRIS Impressario 1.2. The printer drivers do not require IRIS Impressario. ESP Print is compatible with IRIX 6.2.
ESP Print supports serial, parallel (Centronics and HP Bitronics), SCSI, and network interfaces supporting the JetDirect, LPD/LPR, and MS Windows network printing protocols.
ESP Print supports most Adobe PostScript printers as well as the following raster printers:
