GRUNDIG WORLD CUP
Vail, CO
July 12-13, 1997

The skies were blue and the weather was perfect for the weekend's festivities in Vail. The Grundig World Cup hosted its 8th Cross Country race and the fans were out in force. Cadel Evans and Paola Pezzo continued their run for the title while the working class enjoyed a premiere industry extravaganza.

Every major bike manufacturer is scrambling for a car sponsorship, we all know about Trek/Volkswagen, you buy a $15,000 Trek bicycle and get a free sports car...
The winner this week is Amp Research, joining up with Mercedes Benz. The staff at IB would like to venture a guess that any mountain biker who drives a Benz did not make their money in the bike industry.
This full spring ride may look like just another cush ride. Lenz Sport frames offer 4.5 inches of rear travel on an aluminum chassis, and they sport a bottom bracket design that may be a wave for the future.
On the Lenz Sport, the pivot for the rear moves around the bottom bracket. This should eliminate many current full suspension problems, keeping chain length and seat-to-pedal distances constant, eliminating ghost shifting, and minimizing the number of linkages.
Little Skinner had her eye on this sweet GT kid's bike, needing a better suspension than Dad's back. GT had the largest booth, it included this trailer full of tricks and a support area much bigger than most bike shops.
Quality with style, Little Skinner always says, and she plans to only use the best biodegradable products on her bikes. Karl and the Pedro's lineup were, once again, front row center for the Vail World Cup.
