• The Cryptolope Helper Application

IBM infoMarket's Cryptolope is a system that helps people securely publish and sell copyrighted information on the Internet. The system has two parts:

• The publisher protects information by placing it in a Cryptolope container.
• The reader uses the Cryptolope Helper Application to preview a summary and the price, and to open the Cryptolope container, if desired. The Cryptolope Helper Application works with either the Netscape Navigator or the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browser.

This Web page tells you how to use the Cryptolope Helper Application.

When you choose a link to a document in a Cryptolope container, the Web browser starts the Cryptolope Helper Application. A Cryptolope container Web page displays a summary of the document, including the price, if any. The following screen shows a Cryptolope container Web page.

To view a document, click on the Open Now button on the Web page that summarizes the document. If you are purchasing a document, you will NOT be prompted to confirm the purchase. The purchase price is displayed on the container Web page.

Note: You must register with IBM infoMarket before you can use the Cryptolope Helper Application to open a document. To register, follow the steps described in Testing the Installation.
