On the Osmosis team, we're constantly on the look-out for interesting, unusual or just plain good music that can be shared with the 200,000 or so regular readers of Shopper.

If you own the copyright to some music and lyrics and would like to see a track or two of your work appear on a future Osmosis, then we need your music and a signed copy of the permission form. Without a fully-completed permission form, your tracks can't get onto Osmosis - it's der law! And we only accept complete tracks.

We'd also like a few images, a bit of biographical information and full contact details - including prices of any CDs you have for sale - so we can include them on the Osmosis page that we'll write to accompany your tracks. Original videos, animations and graphics are always welcome too.

Your CD can contain standard audio tracks, .mp3 files recorded at CD-quality (don't fret about file sizes too much - that's the joy of CDs!) or .wav files.

What now follows is the nearest thing we have to a FAQ that should answer most of your questions...copies of the permission form you need can be accessed by clicking on the links you'll find right at the bottom of this page.

Osmosis is essentially a simple Web Site on a disc with a page for each MP3 track. In due course, we'll be putting the best of Osmosis online. As you can see, we provide a basic biog and image of the band/musicians behind each track, with full contact and price details and a link to a relevant Web Site if there is one.

What does it cost - what is it worth?
We don't charge individual musicians a penny, you don't charge us a penny. Your music is showcased to the 170,000-odd people who buy Shopper each month. Osmosis can be a useful promotional tool - sales are made direct to Shopper readers and as the project gains momentum, the more switched-on members of the UK music business will start taking notice... who knows where it all might lead.

How to submit stuff
Computer Shopper, of course, is twelve years old and is Britain's biggest-selling monthly PC magazine. It's published by Dennis Publishing in London - who insist that we have a signed copy of the permission form before they will allow anything to go on the disc. (Ideally, use the RTF version of the form, but the TXT document should load into anything). Bit of a bore, but you could print the form out, sign it, scan it and email us the file so we can print it out here! (doh!) So. If you'd like to try putting a full track or two of music onto the next Osmosis, we need to get hold of the MP3 file(s) that have been written in CD quality - we can collect it from your site if you want to FTP material up there, or you can FTP it to us at

in which case you should put everything in a single folder and send an email to osmosis@shopperlabs.com telling us what's there!

Or you can write the MP3 tracks to CD and mail it to Osmosis, 12 Corve Street, Ludlow, Shropshire, SY8 1DA ENGLAND. If you only have an audio CD (or at a real push, DAT) then we can make the MP3 files for you.

We should be able to borrow an image or two and some blurb from your existing Web Site if you have one, but please send as much written and pictorial stuff as you can. We'll do scans from images and logos if needed; please make it clear if you need to have stuff back after we have used it! We can't be responsible for priceless, irreplaceable materials - but will send things back to you recorded or registered if you send stuff to us that wayà
