Links are connections to documents on your site or on other web sites. You can create links from the Document window using the Property inspector or the Modify menu.
Dreamweaver provides several ways to create links:
![]() |
Use the point-to-file icon to point to a file that you want to link to. See Creating links with the point-to-file icon. |
![]() |
Use the Property inspector to create links in a more traditional manner by typing a path to a file or browsing to the file on disk. See Linking to a document. |
![]() |
Use named anchors to jump to specific positions within a document. See Linking to a named anchor. |
![]() |
Use e-mail, nowhere, and script links to open mail programs, to gain access to JavaScript events, or to execute JavaScript code. See Creating e-mail, nowhere, and script links. |
![]() |
The Site map view can also be used to create links. See Creating and modifying links in site map view. |
![]() |
Use the Document window or a browser to test all links. See Testing links. |
Before creating links, be sure you understand the difference between relative and absolute paths—and how to designate each type of path. See About relative and absolute paths.
