Helen Bradley shows how to create Web pages with Nvu.

If you're thinking of using a fully fledged Web design tool, these days you'll probably settle on either FrontPage and Dreamweaver. After all, they're the most commonly used editors but they're certainly not the only tools out there. One alternative is the Mozilla spin off Nvu (New View), a free editor that is compatible with Windows, Linux and the Mac. We'll show you where to get a copy of Nvu and get you up and running creating your first pages with it.

The basic premise of Nvu was to make a web editor that lets you create and publish web pages easily. It stands to reason that an editor designed to meet these requirements will be easy for anyone to use to create a basic web page. Of course, creating a great looking site will take more commitment and skills, but the tools in Nvu make this possible too. First of all, install Nvu from our cover CD here.
