If you need a great label program, look no further. DesignExpress is speedy and intuitive, and as well as creating great labels, it will also create business cards, envelopes, index cards, name tags, and more. The best feature is that you don't actually have to do any of the designing yourself. There are so many templates that you're sure to find ones you like for each of your requirements. After you've entered your company information, just click on the design you want, and print. The program is optimised for laser and inkjet printers, prints on any kind of stock, and has lots of graphic tools so you can be as fancy as you like. Among the best features include: mail merge; font support with rotatable text; insertion of clipart; and an address book. This program saves you both time and money -- and it makes your company look good.
A much more revolutionary office product is Corel Office for Java, which is written 100 percent in Java, the programming language taking the Net by storm, because it can create applications that run over the Internet. According to Corel, this means that Office for Java will offer "a modular, extensible, platform-independent, document and network-centric environment for document creation and workgroup collaboration".
Corel Office for Java is now in beta, which means it should be more stable than the alpha versions previously available, but still with a fair amount of work to do before it is officially released. You can download the beta version of Office for Java and read more about it at http://officeforjava.corel.com.
Just bear in mind the beta is bound to be less than completely stable and it contains the client-side of Office for Java only. The server side, which is not included in the download, takes care of important features including server-side document storage, import/export, printing and spell checking. -- Glenn Rees
