The FTP Session Window
The FTP Session window allows you to conduct an Internet
File Transfer Protocol session with your web server. Hopefully, we have designed
Alchemy well enough that you will no longer need to be this low-tech, but just
in case...
The FTP session contains two window panes. The pane on the left displays a directory
listing of files on your local PC, while the pane on the right displays files on
your web server. You can use the buttons at the bottom of each pane to perform
file and directory operations:
- Copy -> - Transfers the selected file(s) in the
Local files pane from the PC to the host.
- <- Copy - Transfers the selected file(s) in the
Remote files pane from the host to the PC.
- Rename - Displays the File name dialog and
allows you to rename the currently selected file.
- Delete - Deletes the currently selected file.
- ChDir - Displays the Directory name dialog and
allows you to change the current directory.
- MkDir - Displays the Directory name dialog and
allows you to create a new directory.
- Refresh - Reloads the directory listing.
You can use the Transfer mode radio buttons to explicitly set the
FTP file transfer mode to either ASCII or Binary, or
select Auto detect to let Alchemy set the transfer mode on a
per-file basis according to the contents of the file.

Connect...
Displays the FTP connection dialog box which allows you to
specify the host to which you want to connect. The settings in this dialog are the same
as those in the FTP section of the
Alchemy preferences dialog and the
FTP section of the Project preferences dialog. If you
have a project file open, Alchemy will initialize the dialog with the FTP settings
from the project file. If not, the FTP settings from the global configuration file
will be used.
Disconnect
Pulls the plug on your current session.
- Helpers
Allows you to go to a helper application window such as an image editor. You set these
items up in the Helper applications section of the
Alchemy preferences dialog.
- Window

these items up in the Windows section of the
Alchemy preferences dialog.
