| What is SoftCD? |
| SoftCD enables the contents of read-only CD-ROMs to be updated remotely
with no additional hardware requirements.
The basic concept behind SoftCD is to deliver the bulk of the information to the
recipients on CD-ROM, and then deliver the updates via the network. Since the information
that changes is typically only a small percentage of the total, the updates can be emailed
or downloaded from the network. SoftCD works at the file-system level, and therefore no
application changes are needed to support it. |
