![]() "Cindy Crawford's Basic Face" begins with acknowledgments and an introduction that lets the reader know where Cindy and her co-authors are coming from philosophically vis-a-vis makeup. They also serve up some biographical anecdotes that make the book more than just a "How To" makeup bible. Next comes the attitude adjustment discussed earlier, then preparation, including health tips. The tools of the trade follow. Cindy asserts, "The right tools are essential." That sounds a little like a plumber talking, but she does provide photographs and the purpose of each tool. Next is foundation, then concealer, then powder. Peppered throughout are interesting photographs of Cindy being made up, together with illustrations and cartoons which help her make her points. Next is blush, eye makeup -- which comprises the longest section of the book -- and lips. Final touches follow that, and they are followed by Shop Talk, which offers tips about where and how to buy makeup. The book concludes with clues about when to throw that aging eyeliner and blush out. (More.) |
