RR: That's an amazing story because most people struggle really hard. They go through all kinds of disappointments and frustrations, but I guess you were blessed to do this. It was your time and place and I'm really happy that it happened for you. Now, in the years that you have been in this business, I'm sure that you've had some wonderful experiences. Why don't you tell us a couple of really cool things that have happened to you. Roshumba: Well, I'll tell you about the most exciting experience that I've had in the business. That would have to be appearing in the "Sports Illustrated" swimsuit issue. When they first booked me I had no idea first of all, I can't say that I didn't know who they were because I'm American, but I had no idea of the impact that they could have on a model's career. When I first started I spent my first years living in Paris, I was mostly focusing on "Vogue" and "Elle" and working for all these different wonderful clients. Then they ("Sports Illustrated") called and they booked me even before they met me. They booked me from pictures they had seen and from my reputation as a good person to work with. I was pretty pleased. I met Julie and the producers of the actual project and I worked with them successfully for four straight years, and it has been an incredible journey. I have learned so m uch about beauty as far as the flesh and the body in movement, and knowing how to make love to the camera as they say. I learned all of that on the "Sports Illustrated" shoot. It was the '92 issue, the Olympic issue. I just hung out with some really great girls, like Vendela, Kathy, Ingrid, Rachel Hunter, everybody; Elle, all of those girls, and I had a really great time growing up with "Sports Illustrated." They treated me like a princess -- first class airfare, first class hotels. I remember one time I was leaving the collections in Paris and they sent my own private plane to pick me up from the airport in JFK and fly me to my location in Florida. So it was like: What more could you ask for? That's probably the most exciting thing. Page 2 of 10
