RR: Tell me a little bit about your beginnings, how you got started in this business. Roshumba: Well, I actually started more or less on a dare. I was in Chicago working as a medical technician at a hospital. They were putting me through school, and I was bored needless to say. I was sitting in university wondering what I was doing there. It wasn't my thing. Some friends familiar with the fashion industry suggested that I maybe try modeling. So, they got me to do a show at a nightclub, a show at the church, and modelling at the mall and things like that. Then they suggested that I go to Paris. So, I took a few pictures, got on a plane with only $150. I was waiting for my income tax to return, which didn't show up, but I went anyway. I had a round-trip ticket, got on a plane, landed in Paris and there I was. I was 19. That was nine years ago. When I got to Paris I met some agents. So I went to all these agents at the Champs Elysee and around. One agent decided that he liked me and sent me to Yves St. Laurent, and he booked me on the spot. I have been working ever since.
