Charles F. Waterman

Charles F. Waterman is widely regarded as the finest outdoor writer practicing today. Author of 19 books and half century of magazine articles, he is a regular contributor to several magazines, including Gray's Sporting Journal, Gun Dog, Wing &Shot, Fly Fishing in Saltwater, Fishing World, and Florida Sportsman.

His book titles include "Field Days" (1995), "Gun Dogs & Bird Guns" (reissued in 1995), "Black Bass & the Fly Rod", "The Part I Remember", "Hunting Upland Birds", and "Ridge Runners and Swamp Rats". Of his work novelist Thomas McGuane has written: "What Charley stands for to another outdoorsman is life in the field, lived to the last drop...It is the steady accretion of sharp observation, common sense, amiable annoyance with pretense and above all the homegrown speed of wit that unify his work and give it a natural wholeness."

Charley and his wife, Debie, live in Florida and are in the constant and active company of gun dogs, bird guns, and fly rods.
