Linear_Gradient

Reference
Index

This gradient interpolates linearly between two linked textures or two values.

How Does It Work?

LINEAR GRADIENT blends between two discreet values (colors, percents, or bumps) or two linked textures to create a smooth gradient. The Blend Function parameter defaults to a linear blend between the values or textures, but you may modify the blend by linking to a Generator.

Hints!

The percent versions of these gradient components are often extremely useful when they're used as controls for other textures. Many components from the Noise and Natural classes work best when their control parameters are linked to smoothly varying textures, such as LINEAR GRADIENT (or another of the gradients). For example, if you link the Clouds component's Puff Size parameter to a percent-type LINEAR GRADIENT, the clouds will dissipate along the direction of the gradient.

Common Parameters

Blend Function

Controls how the shell values are mixed or blended.

Repeat Flag

When enabled, the gradient repeats indefinately.

Color Component Parameters

Top/Bottom

The top and bottom color values of the gradient.

Percent Component Parameters

Top/Bottom

The top and bottom percent values of the gradient.

Bump Component Parameters

Top/Bottom

The top and bottom bump values of the gradient.
