How Does It Work? The GAIN generator is simply a linear function that can be weighted so that the majority of its values are either near the middle or near its extremes. The Gain parameter, when set closer to 0.0%, weights the generator toward its minimum and maximum values. When the Gain parameter is set closer to 100.0%, it weights the generator values toward the middle of the function. By default, GAIN does not repeat. However when Repeat Flag is enabled, the function will repeat with every other cycle being mirrored. The mirroring gives a smooth transition between each discreet function. The standard generator parameters are included for manipulating the gain function. Hints! The GAIN generators acts like a contrast control when linked through a blend function. Higher values result in less contrast and lower values give more contrast. GAIN is often useful for smoothing blend functions and bevel profiles. |
