Darken

Reference
Index

Darkens, or reduces the value of, a texture.

How Does It Work?

DARKEN reduces or scales down the values in the Background texture.  This makes a Background color or percent texture look darker and reduces the bump height of a Background bump texture. The color DARKEN component reduces the value (HSV) of the Background texture.

A Mask value of 100% will have no effect while a Mask value of 0% will reduce a color or percent to black and scale bump heights to "0".

Hints!

Keep in mind that the Mask parameter is linkable.  Using a percent Noise component as a Mask can "dirty up" an existing texture.  Using both a Gradient and a Noise component in conjunction with DARKEN you can, for example, make a brick wall that is dirtier/darker at the bottom than at the top.
