You open drawings to work on them just as you do with other Windows applications. AutoCAD LT also provides a browser to help you locate drawing files.
To open an existing drawing, you choose its name from a list. You can open only one drawing at a time in AutoCAD LT. If you already have a drawing open, AutoCAD LT prompts you to save that drawing when you open another one.
Use Find File in the Select File dialog box, to view preview images of drawings, to open drawings, and to search for files. The Browse/Search dialog box displays small images of drawings in the directory you specify. Click an image to select it. You can change the size of the images by selecting from the Size list on the Browse tab in the Browse/Search dialog box.
You can use the Browse/Search dialog box to search for files across multiple directories on a single drive or on multiple drives. You can also search for files by specifying file type or by referencing their date of creation. For example, you could search for drawing files that were created after 3:00 p.m. on a certain day.
When the system variable RASTERPREVIEW is on, AutoCAD LT automatically generates a raster preview image that is stored with the drawing when you save it. For drawings saved without preview images, use the LT DWG Update utility for batch updating.
