Controls
Tape Counter And Icon
Shows how long the capture has been going. The animated icon shows the capture is in progress.
Disk Space Gauge
Displays how much space there is on the disk currently being captured to. The progress starts on the left hand side and fills up as the disk space fills up.
Note this display is based on the space on the disk being captured to, not the space on all available disks.
AVI File Size
Shows the current size of the capture file.
Disk Space Remaining
Shows the space remaining on the disk being captured to.
Note this display is based on the space on the disk being captured to, not the space on all available disks.
Achieved Frame Rate
This display is calculated on the number of frames that have been written to the file and how the capture has been in progress. If your computer is capturing at full speed, the achieved frame rate should approach the desired frame rate (set from the options panel), be aware that it may take a second or two to settle though. If the achieved frame rate falls significantly short of the desired frame rate, the computer is dropping frames and the movie file created will look jerky when played back. See optimising your system and troubleshooting to stop dropped frames.
Compression
Shows the average amount of compression achieved for the whole file captured so far. The bar and percentage value allow you to quickly glance and assess the performance of the compressor and settings chosen.
Dropped Frames
Shows the number of dropped from reported by the system. It is common and generally acceptable to drop one or two frames in the first second of two of capture but if the number of dropped frames continues to increase, this will degrade the quality of the movie file. See optimising your system and troubleshooting to stop dropped frames.
